Answer

Rehabilitation for people living with lung conditions in Northern Ireland comes in the form of pulmonary rehabilitation services that are hosted and run by respiratory nursing and therapy teams in each of the local Health and Social Care Trust areas. After assessment for suitability, patients will be referred to a programme comprising lifestyle, dietary and physical activity advice (and often exercise regimes) to support them to better manage their condition. These programmes often last a number of weeks, are based in a community outpatient setting and are additional to any consultant-led and GP-led respiratory service that the patient receives.
