Answer
The table below shows the percentage uptake of the seasonal 2024/25 influenza vaccination by eligible group, on or before 6 January 2025.
| Eligible group | Vaccine uptake (%) |
| 65 years and over | 71.6% |
| 18-64 years ‘at risk’ | 40.7% |
| Care Home residents | 79.8% |
| Care Home staff | 6.4% |
| All Trust-employed health and social care workers | 18.7% |
| Pre-school children | 29.4% |
| Primary school children | 56.8% |
| Post Primary school children | 53.7% |
The influenza vaccination programme was extended to include all 50 to 64-year-olds from 15th January 2025. Therefore, vaccination uptake will be recorded differently from 15th January, to include a separate 50–64-year-old cohort and a 18–49-year-old ‘at risk’ category.
*Notes:
All data is provisional.
Data sources include Northern Ireland Vaccine Management System and Trust school nursing returns.
Data extracted 21/01/2025 with date of vaccination on/before 06/01/2025.
It is important to note that vaccinations are added retrospectively to VMS, therefore this comparison may include a number of vaccinations administered prior to 06/01/2025 but recorded on VMS after that date.
