Answer
I recognise the crucial role of the workforce in delivering improved outcomes for stroke survivors. Due to resource constraints and the need to take into account revised best practice guidelines, it has not been possible to progress the workforce review within the timescale outlined in the Reshaping Stroke Care Action Plan.
However, I can advise that preparatory work to commence the workforce review has been completed. My officials have developed draft Terms of Reference and a project lead has recently been appointed and will join the Department in the coming weeks to take this important work forward. It is anticipated that the review will commence in April.
It is expected that the workforce review will take approximately 12 months to complete. Any recommended actions arising from the work of the review will be considered for implementation at that time in the context of available funding and resources.
