Answer
The Northern Ireland Cardiology Network continues to address key priorities in relation to the management of cardiac-related issues across the region. The Network’s focus remains on supporting equitable care and regionally-standardised approaches to cardiac treatments and condition management, in line with its workplan. However, in response to immediate service pressures within cardiology and cardiac surgery, the Network has had to reprioritise its planned work and provide increased oversight and support in order to ensure that patient safety and service continuity are maintained. Funding is in place for the existing workstreams; however, in the context of current financial constraints, no additional workstreams have secured funding at this time.
